The video “player” below contains demonstrations of each of the
popular tying methods described in this page.
Click on a screen to select a video to watch. (You may need to click
once to “activate” the player, and then click on your selection). Below the “player” are links providing detailed descriptions of the
tying methods. Click on the links to
obtain detailed tying diagrams and illustrated
instruction sheets. Click
on the link “In his own words…” to read the source for the particular
method. Please note that the tying “tools” herein are to describe the
various TYING methods and not to determine how the number of strings of
tekhelet to be used for a particular TYING method. That is, there are three opinions
(Rambam=1/2, Raavad=1, Tosafot=2) as to how many strings of tekhelet are to
be used, however poskim don’t necessarily correlate the tying method with the
opinion for number of strings. For
more on this issue see my TyingFAQ
or TyingQuestionsAnswered
pages. Please remember that you MUST say “L’Shem Mitzvat
Tzitzit” before putting the strings in to the hole of the talit! |

· Though no one describes tying with tekhelet according to the common method of tying white, I have included a diagram for doing so here as a service to those who do not wish to change their way of tying. |
